Henry Cooper - Malta
« on: Tuesday 21 July 09 08:37 BST (UK) »
Hi,
Can any one help me please in finding the parents of Henry Cooper born 1837 Cospicua Malta, I think his father was George but do not know the mothers name, also Georges marriage in Cospicua Malta. George Cooper was from Scotland, we think George was a merchant seaman.

I would be interested to have his date of birth. He is buried in our cemetery at the Msida Bastion Garden, but I don't have much info about him :

He became Major in 1837.
Henry COOPER, died 16th December 1843, aged 35 years. Master of the brig Eliza of London

Here are all the Cooper marriages in Malta at this time, only one could match if he has a middle name :

COOPER, Joshua Lines, 29 years, bachelor, of Bedfordshire, son of George and Margaret Cooper, Gunner, 12th Brigade, Royal Artillery, married 11th July 1877 to CRIGHTON, Elvira Emily, 19 years, widow, born Malta daughter of Antonio and Mary Ann Borg.

COOPER, Samuel, 21+, bachelor, of Leith, Scotland, son of Samuel and Julia Cooper, Corporal, Royal Artillery, married 25th July 1872 to WILSON, Emily, 25 years, widow, born Malta, daughter of John and Caroline Coleiro.

COOPER, Thomas, of Lanarkshire, Private, 42nd Regiment, married 1st November 1843 to GUNN, Lucy, of Gibraltar, possibly GRICE.

Hi,
I was surprised to get an answer after 12 yrs, but thank you for answering.
Henry Salvatore Joseph Giavanni Cuper (Cooper) was born 13th Nov 1836 Cospicua Malta, bap 15th November 1836   Father George Cooper from Aberdeen Scotland and mother was  Maria Antonia Mercieca.  His parents were married 1833 Senglea Malta.  I was able to find all these dates through the years but never found where Henry died, your Henry you mentioned died in 1843 which cannot be my Henry as he was only born in 1836?
I think my Henry died in Alexandria as his son Joseph was born there in 1877.
