Hello Alli. This past spring I decided to spend an entire month in Edinburgh to get to know the city better, do some research into Scotland's history and add a touch of family history research as well.  My family history research found the connection you talked about.  Yes your John Scott and Margaret Kennedy are connected to me.

John's parents were John Scott and Chirsty Nicholl who lived out their lives at Whinfield, Ashkirk.  The parents of the John Scott (who married Christy Nicholl) was John and Helen Scott, also of Ashkirk.  John and Helen Scott are my direct great great great grandparents.  Therefore, if you are descendent of John and Helen Scott then you and I are indeed connected?

Thank you Roots Chat.

I hope you are interested in what I have found about your family? I look forward to hearing from you.

Relatively Yours.
Merv Scott
