Would love information on  William Sale and his son John Bradford Sale who where river pilots in Liverpool in the mid 1800's.  Can anyone help?

Celia,  Many thanks for your reply regarding pilots W. Sale and J.B. Sale.  I have since been down to the Maritime Museum and I now have the information that I needed.

Regards Annie

Thats great Annie where you able copy or photo  their records.I used to go there to do that for members, but it got too time consuming trying to decipher some of the scribble ;D.Plus i don't live in liverpool and the public transport made the day even longer,so i had to give it up.I did enjoy it though and do miss going to the library  in the summer months.

Hi Celia, I was able to photocopy one entry from the Pilots Character Book but had to copy another entry in the book by hand but I got all the information there was about the two but couldn't get the date of birth of William Sale.  You may know about this particular Character Book, its a great source of information and worth a look if you are in Liverpool.  By the way this is  "Eggsie" who is replying to you regards the Pilots and not Annie, as It was me who wanted the information on this occasion.  I must open my own account soon so as not to cause any further confusion.   Once again, many thanks for your interest.

Re-Route to Eggsie ;D
Read my post above, did you know that there are also 2 other registers which i looked up at one time.

Register of Pilots Children 1814- 1905 in that one you can/might find children you never knew they had,it also gives children that died. or bluntly Dead
The other interesting one is
Register of Deceased Pilots Children and widows 1827-1884
In that one it gives other wives if he had any.

The W.Sale on the list, a printout from the book says he  was born 1828

Thanks for that Celia, we will have to have another visit to the Mersey Maritime Museum because that was one of the things we were looking for.
