hello

Do you know if they are still alive in 1841? That might help find a birth. There is a death of a Catherine Champion in 1816 in London which gives her dob as about 1771.

Hi Debbie

Have you the full marriage record? Who were the witnesses?

Daniel Thomas' siblings were

JAMES HENRY CHAMPION
Christening:  14 JUN 1791   Saint Martin In The Fields, Westminster, London
Father:  THOMAS CHAMPION
Mother:  CATHERINE

CATHERINE SUSANNA CHAMPION
Christening:  21 MAY 1793   Saint Martin In The Fields, Westminster, London
Father:  THOMAS CHAMPION
Mother:  CATHERINE

CATHERINE ELIZABETH CHAMPION
Christening:  03 APR 1795   Saint Martin In The Fields, Westminster, London
Father:  THOMAS CHAMPION
Mother:  CATHERINE

ANN CATHERINE CHAMPION
Christening:  14 MAR 1797   Saint Martin In The Fields, Westminster, London
Father:  THOMAS CHAMPION
Mother:  CATHERINE

ANN CATHERINE CHAMPION
EDWARD MARTIN LEFORT
Marriage:  01 JAN 1816   Saint Mary Magdalene Old Fish Street, London

From Thomas Champion's will proved in 1828 there doesn't seem any evidence that his wife was still alive at that date.

Hi Valda

Thank you for your kind reply.  In answer to your question - no - I do not have the full  marriage records.  I was hoping that someone might be able to look them up for me.

Thank you for checking this for me.

Regards..Debbie (Audtralia)

Hi Debbie,

I've just seen this post and I am hoping you are still using this forum.  Thomas Champion and Catherine Rogers had one other son, Thomas, who is mentioned in his Will.  That son was baptised at Christ Church, Southwark, Surrey on 21st Feb 1802.  Thomas senior ran a pub in that parish, The Jacob's Well in Upper Ground St. and is listed in the Licensed Victuallers records from that period.  The pub is also listed in his will.  Thomas junior is my 3rd great grandfather.

Did you get any further in finding the parents of Catherine Rogers?  As fat as I can tell, Catherine's parents were John Rogers and Hannah Taylor who lived in Jacob St., Bermondsey, London - in St. Mary Magdalene Parish, where Catherine was baptised on 7th Oct 1770.  Does this accord with your searches or is this the 'wrong' Catherine you mentioned?

Finally, are you related to Thomas Champion?
Best regards
Brian Champion
