hugh crawford
« on: Tuesday 04 August 09 14:33 BST (UK) »
Hi, I have a hugh crawford in my tree who emigrated to america in 1908. He arrived at New York 27 april 1908 along with a John Crawford. Both men were aged 30 years(b-1878 coleraine, northern ireland). I would like to know if anyone has information regarding them when they arrived.
I do know hugh had an uncle in colorado, but did he visit him or go his own way?

The manifest lists Hugh as age 16 and John as age 30 and says they were going to join friemd W.A. Blair, 49 Ellen St., Winnepeg, Man.

In the 1916 Canadian Census in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, there's a Hugh Boyd Crawford, age 22, with father John Crawford, age 38 and John's wife & younger daughters.

If that information matches, they may not have stayed in the US.

First page of manifest gives father Hugh Crawford 58 Ardbana Terrace Coleraine and says their final destination is Winnipeg, Manitoba. (the Ellis Island index does give Hugh's age as 30 - and Coleraine as Colevaine- but the actual manifest clearly says 16).
Also, Hugh Boyd Crawford- birth registration- Oct./Dec.1891 Coleraine district

Just out of interest aghadowey, could you tell me where Arbana Terrace is in Coleraine (I'm not familiar with the old street names)

Thank you again, carol

Ardbana Terrace was a group of 8 terrace houses on present Mountsandal Road near Kennedy's Foundry (now gone) built by William Douglas (demolished a year or two ago).

I have no interest in this family.  I was just helping carolc.  Hopefully, she will come back when she receives notice that this thread has been replied to, but she hasn't been active on this site since 2013.  You can either post the information here or, if you post twice more, you can send carolc a personal message with your e-mail address.
