 looking for some help regarding  the hetherington family who lived there in the 1940s james j  hetherington  I would like to know more about this gentltman be grateful for any help....

Waterford City Library has a newspaper index from 1884 to 1948, you could write to them and see if he is mentioned in the index, their address is Lady Lane, Waterford City.

There was a John Hetherington Baker in 17 O Brien Street listed in Thoms Directory of 1909.

thank you for yourreply   there was a hetherington who was married  to a  kiely from john lane waterfordback in the 1940s or later you see my grandmotherwas also a bridget kiely she was born in john lane back in the 1800s    that the reson i went on line  to search

Sorry, there is a Kiely in the family. It was Peggy Kiely married to James hetherington who was my nans brother, I believe they had one daughter named Derry. Hope this helps  ;)
