Josiah Jackson and family - St Helens area - 41-71 - Please

Hello 

Due to me being an idiot and losing all the family tree, i'm having to piece it all together again.

I've now reached my Jackson's and my GGG-Grandfather Josiah and is offspring in particular. This should be the keystone from which I can build everything else down from again.

Josiah Jackson was born around 1809 in Rainford and married a Barbara (Maiden name could well be Ball - Pre 1837 anyhow) - All I have at the moment is Alice who was born abt 1838 and my GG-Grandfather Josiah Jnr who was born abt 1853.
From last time I know Josiah and Barbara had more then two children.
If someone could so kind and remind me of just who they are  - I would be most grateful and promise never to lose an entire tree again

Thanks for the offer on the Penketh's but I do have their 1881 details.

Can I be cheeky and ask for Josiah Jnr at 92 Wilson Street's details in 1901 because I reckon he and Ellen had more children between '91 and then.

Plus two questions on those census records you have kindly given me:

first why do Josiah and Barbara appear to have two daughters called Mary. The eldest who is 5 in 1841 and 14 in 1851 and then I assume married off by 1861.
Then in 1871 they have another Mary this time aged 8
Unless Mary the first died between 51 and 61 - and still even then its not like they would have lost her at birth or very young.

Second strange how Josiah Jnr and wife Ellen have a daughter Barbara aged 11 in 1891 who doesn't appear on the 1881 census - yet her younger brother Josiah born 1881 does -Simple mistake with her age on the census???

PS. Can I also ask very nicely if you could look into Joseph Jackson on the 1901 census, he is 40, a General Labourer born and living in St Helens. Something is telling me from memory that he had a lot of children - could be another brother that though.

As to the question about the 2 Mary's... it's possible that the first Mary did die and they then called their next born daughter by that name as well.

I checked for Barbara in 1881 after I saw her age on the 1881 but could not find her... I checked under the surname of JACKSON and the surname of PENKETH just in case she was with relatives of her mother, but no luck.

A Josiah Jackson married Barbara Ball  31 Dec 1833 at Prescot St Mary.

He signs with an X and is labourer bachelor of Eccleston
She also signs with an X and is a spinster of Eccleston


Also Mary Jackson d of Josiah & Barbara Jackson b 18 Sept 1836, christened 13 Nov 1836 at Rainford Parish Church. He is described as a labourer living in Eccleston
