Thanks very much for looking, even though unsuccessfully. It is great to have some local help as I live in Australia.
I just found the Scotlands Places website and looked at some of that and found Adam Murdoch owned 7 horses at Craigenton in 1798, but was only liable to pay farm horse tax duty on 4 of them. It is great that more records are becoming available nowadays to help us in our searches.
Thanks for all your efforts.

Hi Ann Marie,
Over 4 years and still helping everyone, fantastic!
I went through all the posts and saw no Morton's.  I have researched as far back as my 5th Great grandfather John Morto(u)n and his wife Helen Craw(u)ford who would have been born around 1710, married in 1735 and had 4 kids all born in Coylton Parrish, Ayrshire.  Helen Morton (wife or daughter?) d 18 Sep 1776 in Blainfield, Kirkoswald.  Sons John and James married?? and died??  Son William Morton married Mary Dow(u)nie in 1767 in Coylton and had John b 1768, Margaret, William, John b 1774, Helen b 1777 and Marion all baptized in Coylton.

Marriages that fit in neighboring parishes are Helen and Alexander Tunnoch, Margaret and John Watson.  John b 1774 married Margaret E(a)glesham or E(a)glesome 1 Mar 1798 in Kiroswald and they in turn had a son John Morton (and perhaps others, William?) who farmed at Newhouse north near Irvine.  This John retired to Edinburgh with his youngest son, my great grandfather, and died there.

Both William and his son John were corn millers at Culzean mill which was just South of Turnberry on Milton Burn and West of Kirkoswald.  A Marion Morton and a William Morton died a month apart at Cullean Mill, Kirkoswald in 1789.  I find this all very confusing with each successive generation given the same names, as well as several other Morton families in the same area with the same forenames.

I am planning a trip to Scotland this summer.  Is there any of these Morton's and perhaps spouses buried at Kirkoswald with inscribed headstones and is there a map of the cemetery with there locations.  Some may be buried at neighboring parishes, but I think there is a family of Morton's in Girvan that I have not been able to connect to my family (so far).

Sorry for the long post and thanks,
James

Hi, I've been searching Maybole cemetary for the graves of my grandparents Ronald McMillan and Agnes McMillan nee Scobie with no luck yet I'm assured they are there. I travelled up from Somerset to search but couldn't see them. Would you have any idea if they are there ? Thanks so much! Jenny.
