Lavington ROOPE in Tasmania -COMPLETED

Hello.
I am looking for the children of Lavington Roope, b. 1821 Devon, d. 1881 Hobart, Tasmania, m. Lydia Tidmarsh Carter in Hobart, Tasmania in 1846.
Have looked in Tasmanian Archives Office records and found ROOPE Lavington George b. in 1847 and ROOPE Raymond Hamilton b. 1857 but all other siblings (there were several) are either marked as F for female or M for Male.
Can you help me find their names?
They lived in New Town, Hobart, Tasmania.

Hi Hilary,

There are two marriages and a death for girls with the name of Roope but no definite proof of who their parents are.  However it is a very uncommon name so the chances are that they belong to your couple.  You would need death records which have parents name to prove same, or copies of marriage certificates.  If you look under the married names for a death on the index you might find the correct parents names have been given.  When the births were registered they obviously hadn't decided on the child's name

1927 aged 82 years.

It looks as if LAVINGTON GEORGE ROOPE may have been a bit of an inventor.
He applied for registration of a patent in 1898.

Using the National Archives search which I have given above, you will also see a digitised Navy Record for a RAYMOND Charles ROOPE who gives his parents' names as RAYMOND and MABEL ROOPE.  There is an addresss.

Also at the HAY cemetery where CHARLES H.  ROOPE died, there is an unmarked grave.

Thanks so much Sue. That's definitely my Lavington George Roope!
But perhaps not Raymond Charles Roope. I have found that Raymond Hamilton Roope married Constance King, not a Mabel.
I'm very interested in George Hunt Roope though (Hunt is a family name). Does it give any indication of when he was born, or how old he was when he died?
