Brandelhow Park
« on: Friday 28 August 09 17:14 BST (UK) »
Could anyone tell me were I could get a copy of the report that I believe appeared in the Westmorland Gazette regarding the opening ceremony for Brandelhow Park.

I've looked at the Westmorland & Cumberland Gazette's web sites also at Cumbria County Council's Archive website and I've been unable to find a copy of it anywhere.

Any pointers would be greatly appreciated.

Many Thanks

Nigel

the West Gazette is available on microfilm at the library in Kendal.. if you contact the local studies section they do look ups etc. though there may be a charge. Is this the park that opened in 1904 near Keswick? If so it may be more likely to be in the Cumberland local press which I would imagine are more likely to be held in Carlisle local studies library..

the following is a list from the cumbria local studies newspper collection showing paper and holdings:

I don't think the Westmorland Gazette, published in Kendal, is the paper you need.  Brandelhow Park, Keswick is in Cumberland and the posting maybe should be on the Cumberland Board.
The local paper in Keswick is the Keswick Reminder, founded in 1896. The Cumberland and Westmorland Herald, published in Penrith, is the main paper for the North Lakes and to a lesser extent, the Cumberland News, published in Carlisle.
Forster Cul, Harrison Cul, Wood Cul Yks, Castley Cul & Wes, Lorimer Cul and Perth,Innis Cul, Casson, Cul, Johnston,Cul & Nfk, Carruthers Cul, Ewart Cul, Jardine Cul & Dmf, Story Cul, ONeill Cul & NI, Davis Cul & Ldn,

My thoughts exactly. I'd have said the Cumberland and Westmorland Herald is probably your best bet.
