Hi, I also have connections to the Greer's via a William Greer Lynn and I also have connections with Beresford street, weir Street and no 18 Malvern Street

           Hi my gggrandfather Robert Greer married Eliza Jane Harper in 1880 they had three sons William h Greer born 1892
         Robert j Greer born 1886
         John Greer born 1891
   The three brothers were killed in the first war  my grandmother was Bone 1899 and lived in 1 Weir street from 1902 till 1968 her married name was Roper
    I would like to know what Bone you have with William Greer Beresford street  Weir street

Hi Jennifer. I have a connection to beresford street just through association with other of my relatives.My Granddads sister married a william greer Lynn but I am not aware of the Greer that william was named for. I also have family born in Malvern street and Weir Street. They were quite close to each other.
I've just checked and it was a person called beresford rather than the street.
Not sure if that helps you but I am quite sure that our ancestors certainly knew each other quite well

As Greenock is right on the clyde, I would say that there was more chance of a naval base but I don't know for sure

                           I will check that out we know he got married we don't know if it was in England or Scotland and we don't know his wives name
                            My Grandmother never talked about her brothers it was to painfull
