BRITISH TOWNS AND VILLAGES NETWORK is very useful website to help navigate a modern day map of Greater London, showing each London borough and the individual places within it. 




Greater London formed in 1965 has 32 London boroughs, plus the City of London. These boroughs were formed from the metropolitan boroughs of London established in 1889 and other areas of the counties of Middlesex (which disappeared), Essex, Kent and Surrey and a small part of Hertfordshire. All of the boroughs have their own local archives. Links to the City of London and the City of Westminster have already been given; these are the links to all the other London boroughs’ local archives and the areas they included in 1965.
