Sands, Godsmark
« on: Tuesday 01 September 09 00:04 BST (UK) »
Hi

I have a large number of Sands ancesters from Sussex on my late mother's side and quite a few Godsmarks on my father's side.

Does anyone have links with either of these surnames?

Regards

Clare

Hi not a family link but my Newhaven harbour records show a Wm Godsmark b T Wells 1836 recorded as a Fireman ( ie Stoker) 24/1/1860 and 20/2/2/1866 and later in 1866 as 2nd Engineer on ss Lyons on the Newhaven Dieppe run.  Dates of birth in these records were often "iffy" so allow +/- 2 years.
