Hi  :)

I've had a look on SP but can't find anyone suitable.

Could you say where the information on Margaret's birth and place of birth comes from, please. Also, did she marry and to whom and where? Have you found her on any censuses?  Have you got a death date for her? More importantly, did she remain in Scotland?

Sorry to ask so many questions but the answers will help in locating her.

Regards

I think this is her death:

24 Feb 1888, Millhill, Johnstone

Margaret Renwick, aged 82.  Widow of William Renwick, general labourer. Parents as Audrey has proposed:

James McGhie (blacksmith) and Elizabeth m.s. Mulberry. Both deceased.

Informant - Robert Renwick, son

You're lucky  :)

James McGhie died 1855, aged 78,  in Johnstone.

You will be able to find details of his wives and parents if you go to Scotlands People www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk

Margaret Mcghie (Renwick) is my great great great grandmother.  She had daughter Margaret
and Margaret Renwick then married William Johnstone. Margaret married twice and second husband my great grandfather George Read.  Any photos or stories?

I responded to last post reply on this inquiry.  I am also related to Margaret Mcghie.  My great grandmother was Maggie Johnstone but born Renwick out of wedlock.  She married George Swan Law who died ?? About 1899 then she married George Read in Liverpool.  He died between 1907 and 1928 somewhere.  Maggie had 4 children with Law, one Aileen moved to Ontario, Canada. She had my grandfather John Read in Liverpool and he died 1931 of cancer age 28.
