Boyd's Square, Dungannon
« on: Friday 04 September 09 18:32 BST (UK) »
On the 1911 Census, Wilson ancestors are shown as living at No 8, Boyd's Square, Dungannon. Does anyone know anything about Boyd's Square? Is there any connection to Boyd's Farm?
I presume the Square doesn't exist any more.
Thanks.

This is a more recent reference to Boyd's Square-
www.udr.talktalk.net/1974.html
The listing in the 1911 census is for a house numbered 8 on the census form but there was no actual street number.
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

Thank you. Interesting, but not a happy association.

Boyds Sq. along with New Row,Caulfield Terrace,Linfield St and Railway View were basic terrace houses that ran along the railway lines in the west of the town. All are long gone as is the railway. The entire area was redeveloped as park land some years ago.Hope this is of some help to you, shout if you need any other info.

Trying to do a bit of family research and came across this post. Boyds square was located on the southern end of Dungannon, close to the railway station. As another poster has said, it is long gone. I can vaguely remember it as a child. My great grandfather built boyds square and according to the 1901 census lived in number seven with his extended family. They were a family of builders/masons and were respected as such. Adrian Boyd
