Pte Ernest Gould KOYLI Non -Commemorated Update
« on: Wednesday 09 September 09 09:48 BST (UK) »
Hi
Just recieved an email from the CWGC....V Happy :)

"You will be pleased to hear that the Ministry of Defence have now approved his commemoration and I am in the process of making  arrangements for the grave to be inspected and surveyed by one of our Regional Supervisors. Are you able to provide us with any grave details so that I can forward this information to the Regional Supervisor. I note in your letter dated 3rd May 2009 that the Vicar thought him to be in an unmarked "paupers" grave within the Church.  "

Pte Ernest Gould ...Enlisted in the.Kings Own Yorkshire Light Infantry 6th Batt in 1915. He died of TB in a Wakefield Hospital in May 1917 less than 6 months after been discharged with TB caught whilst in France.
He is thought to lie in a Paupers Grave in East Ardsley Cemetery.

NOT FORGOTTEN
RIP Ernest.

CONGRATULATIONS[/size]

Brilliant News Ady.  :)

The Cemetery are sure to be able to pin-point his resting place
and place his new gravestone in honour to his memory.

Will you go to the cememory if they agree to one being erected.

Nice one mate!
One more charge and then be dumb,
When the forts of Folly fall,
May the victors when they come
Find my body near the wall.

Really good news today :)

Following some research by Morley FHS it has come to light that some of the people interred in a Public Grave in the Graveyard werent actually listed in the Index BUT were listed in the Register itself

To that end Ernests grave has been identified so hopefully in the next few months a CWGC headstone can be used to mark his  grave

RIP Ernest..
