If there are any local historians out there who know something of the history of Coleorton I wonder if I may pick your brains!
Hello there,

I have currently traced a relative of mine who on the 1881 Census is living in Coleorton.  His name is William Wilson occupation Earthenware Master.

The address is "the Potworks" Coleorton.  He is shown as employing 17 men,11 women and 13 boys - so quite a cottage industry by all accounts.

Does anyone know where this may have been sited or any background info.  If there is a local history society for this area please let me know how to contact them.

Thanks in anticipation
Sue

Hi

It may be worth contacting the Whitwick Historical Group. Whitwick is only 2/3 miles from Coleorton. I have visited them twice and they have their own premises at Old Station Building, North Street, Whitwick and an extensive library of local history books, maps, parish records etc..

The contact details are
