Wow! Great!

That cross must have taken so long to carve! And taken an expert to do so. The family obviously thought highly of him/her.

and those carvings on the back! Spooky if you see what i mean

Matt

Hi All

Not the best looking stone but I've often wondered what it was like when "new"...must have been quite grand!.....

Here is something a little different; I know it has been on a thread some time ago, but I don't think that it will harm to post it again.

I did post that pic' once before but it did fit in with this thread so I thought here we go again. It's Pamilican island in the Visayan region of the Philippines, believe it or not this is one of the most picturesque graveyards you could imagine. The resident corpses have a fabulous view looking across the palm fringed beach across to the mountains of Bohol.

With a name like Denis it must be good. ;D

Denn

P.S. I shall try to find some pic's of the outlook from that graveyard

I've photographed heaps of stones but i think this is my fave

Closely followed by

this one had a couple of tractor seats on it to rest on...they each had the husband and wifes name.  He also had a ceramic on is stone with what appears to have been his favourite heard of cows LOL!

Both these graves were in Swanson Cemetery near Auckland, New Zealand.  Fantastic little cemetery, showing lots of individual tastes.  Famous NZ artist Colin McCahon is buried here.

Another with heaps of unique headstones is Kauae Cemetery, Rotorua, NZ where the recently deceased Sir Howard Morrison is buried.  Check my set out here http://www.flickr.com/photos/porkynz/sets/72157612701482392/

Cheers
