Anyone else researching Twaddles?
« on: Saturday 19 September 09 06:29 BST (UK) »
I am wondering if anyone is researching the Twaddle family.  I have got back to George Twaddle, born 1801 in Carmunnock, Lanark.  He married Catherine Crawford on 30 January, 1835.
They had several children, with my interest being Thomas, born 1848.
Thomas married Agnes Haddow in 1869.
What I would really like to know is if anyone has done a family tree of these Twaddles.
I do hope a chatter out there can help me here.
Cheers,
Ozdot.

Hi, Ashley,
I posted that query for my friend, who was a Twaddle some years ago and was researching her tree.  You are the first person to ask about Twaddles!
I've been on the phone to her, and she says she will be searching through her notes for info for you.  If you click on the link from Monica it will take you to her original query.  Seven years ago!!!
Wow, Rootschat never forgets!
Her father and uncle emigrated to Western Australia some years ago.  She is sure Agnes Haddow is connected to her somehow through those two.
When she can sort everything out she or I will get back to you with the information.
Until then, keep searching,
Kind regards,
Ozdot.

I have some Twaddles in my tree.

Alexander Carlaw Twaddle, son of Henry Twaddle and Ann Macpherson Carlaw, born 19 June 1881 at Stone, Cambusnethan, married my relative Elizabeth Livingston on 29 July 1914 in Shotts. He died on 28 April 1964 in North Walsham, Suffolk, England and she died in Glasgow on 18 January 1958.

They had two of a family. Agnes Bryson Twaddle married Maurice Frederick Radford. He died on 18 July 1994 in Ipswich, Suffolk, England. They had a son and a daughter, and five grandchildren.

Henry Alexander Twaddle was born on 26 December 1919 in Cambusnethan and died on 14 March 2003 in Winchester, Hampshire, England.

I have a little information about living descendants.
Never trust anything you find online (especially submitted trees and transcriptions on Ancestry, MyHeritage, FindMyPast and other commercial web sites) unless it's an image of an original document - and even then be wary because errors can and do occur.

Ashley, any idea when either James or John Haddow Twaddle was born, married or died? With an idea of any dates I could have a look about & see what I can find. Kim

My mother was a Twaddle, but I'm not sure if she is related to those mentioned here. Her grandfather, William Twaddle, was the mine manager in Ferniegair in the late 1800's early 1900's. Died 1920. Had sons William (died young); John (became mine under manager in Nuneaton, England, had 2 daughters, sons William and James); Tom (emigrated to Australia, died in WW1); James (stayed in Scotland, had 2 daughters); and George Henry (emigrated to US, had 3 daughters). Greatgrandfather William's father was also William Twaddle, married to Elizabeth Watt. G-gf was born in Bothwell in 1843. I hope this helps someone.

Hi, Ashley,
My friend has trawled through her paperwork and has the following information.  I hope you can make head or tail of it.

Thomas Twaddle  married  Agnes Haddow   31/12/1869
Born 1848                        Born 1849        Father William Haddow,   Mother Jane/Jean Morton

Children - Thomas, Jean, George, Catherine, William, Agnes, John, James, Maggie, Janet.

George, my friend's great grandfather, and his brother James, both migrated to Western Australia.
She thinks that they are the brothers of John Haddow, your great grandfather.

She found all this information on Scotland's People.

Here's wishing you happy hunting for those elusive ancestors.

Cheers, Ozdot.

Hello All,
I remember Mrs Twaddle's millinery shop on Craigneuk St, Wishaw from late 1950 until 1972, she was one of the original nice Ladies of that time.
Cheers
