A guess of about 1860 for a birth date of John (O')Sullivan is reasonable.

I believe I can see the RIC records in London as well ?

What does the full service record show ?

I guess if he was a Sergeant he would have been in the force for a while ?

Thanks.

Thanks for the reply ann, I'm looking for McLains and septs of the name.
McClane McLane McClain, Maclaine

I believe there was an earlier John M'Clain in 1822 who served in Clonlisk, King's Co who may be a relative.  Known relatives are Henry M'Lain, and two James M'Lains.

If you send a Pm with e-mail will send extracts from list and where to find service records and what details they give.

Just gave back the book yesterday as I thought you may have got the information elsewhere. If you send PM will get information to you within the week.

Hello! I'm looking for information about my grand uncle Michael Reilly, a Constable stationed at Elphin (Roscommon). He eventually wound up living in Dublin but I don't know if he retired there or not. Any ideas where to find that info?          Thanks Much!        Maggie

your profile doesn't mention where you are located...

Films of RIC records are available in several locations, including Dublin City Library, Pearse St.
