Patrick BRADLEY, Killeentierna, Ballybeg, Co Kerry
« on: Tuesday 29 September 09 03:53 BST (UK) »
RC Parish is Currow & Castleisland.
Giles b 1854, Mary b 1859, Catherine b 1852 (my gt g mother) all migrated to New Zealand in 1878. As far as I know there are 5 other siblings (Patrick, Thomas, Nora, Johana, Hannah) who did not come to NZ. Their parents were Julia CREAN, b 1828 and Patrick Bradley, b cir 1825. I have dates of baptism from IGI.
But few details on Patrick Snr.
I also have this newspaper item of 1891, which was quoted in The NZ Tablet a weekly Catholic newspaper:
"Daniel Walsh and Patrick Bradley, bailiffs, were charged at recent sessions in Castleisland with attempting to shoot a farmer named John Lane and his wife, also with having made an illegal seizure on Lane's property, Excitement exists over the case to Bach an extent that the investigation is being conducted in the police barrack. One week, or perhaps more, may elapse before the case is decided. Lane is a tenant on Lord Headley's estate."

The paper regularly did an "Irish News" section going through each county, of which this item is a part. There were no further items to clarify what happened.

I would be grateful if anyone can shed light on the episode. The Patrick could be the son (then aged about 43) or even a son of his. Or someone else. And if anyone has anything further on the Bradley's needless to say. :)
Thanks Bryan

Hi Kalishoek,
Thank you for the information. Some of the detail I did not have.
Is this info transcribed from the Church records? There's more detail than the LDS site has.
Regards
Bryan

I believe the records posted by Kalishoek came from http://www.irishgenealogy.ie/  (free)

The website currently includes parish records for Co. Kerry and some parts of Dublin.

The Irish genealogy site which shanew147 mentioned has recently added images of many birth, death and marriage registrations.

Although I've already sent this to you I'll add a little here in case these names are familiar to other people and some (more!) relatives make a connection.

These Civil Records have the death of a Patrick Bradley in 1898 at Clounareeny aged 76 (registration district is Killarney).   The informant is Charles Dennehy.

There is a Charles Dennehy is on the 1901 census at Ballybeg, Killeentierna (next door to the household of Patrick Bradley) with his parents William Dennehy and Julia Dennehy.

At Killeentierna parish on 5 March 1878 Julia Bradley married William Dennehy.

In the 1911 census Julia states she has had 15 children and 15 are living, so there could be quite a few descendants.

A Charles Dennehy of the right age emigrated to New York in 1903.   There is a Charles of the right age on the 1910 census and also a William Dennehy who emigrated in 1904 in the same household.

The 1901 Ballybeg census has a William Dennehy in the Murphy household.
