That is part of the issue I am experiencing.  I can not find anything on them.  I do know that Eleanor Josephine (1890) (married Brennan) and Catherine Philomena  (1893) (married Dillon) moved to the U.S.  I believe also that a younger sister Mary (1876) (married Mulloney) moved there also.  Ann (1889) (married Campbell) stayed in Ireland.  Winifred (????) (married Browne) stayed in Ireland.  John...no idea.  I am suspect of the dates for Mary and Ann.  Would there be 13 years between a birth?  Maybe John fits in there.  I think they may be from near Donegal or Mayo? I have also heard Antrim.  But with the name Murthaugh, the mother, Bridgett may be from Scotland?

Just guessing at this point.  I have searched everywhere.  At least everywhere I can think of......

Thanks

Not sure if I understand your post. Are parents named John McAllister and Bridget Murtagh? (Murtaugh is certainly a name found in Ireland so not sure why you'd think she was from Scotland unless you have other information or family stories about her).
Names of children- John, Catherine, Anne and Winifred? and possibly Mary?
And then this bit is confusing- Eleanor Josephine (1890) (married Brennan) and Catherine Philomena  (1893) (married Dillon) moved to the U.S.  I believe also that a younger sister Mary (1876). Is 1876 Mary's birthdate? 1890 Eleanor's marriage date? 1893 Catherine's marriage date?

Sorry...

John McAllister is father??

Bridget Murtaugh is mother??

Catherine Philomena McAllister birth date 1893 married Michael Joseph Dillon from Donegal.  They were married after they both moved to the U.S.  So I suspect the McAllister family may be from Donegal area.

Eleanor Josephine McAllister birth date near 1890 married John Brennan after moving to the states.  He is US born.

Mary McAllister has a birth date near 1876 ?, possibly, she married Martin Mulloney and moved to the states.  I do not know which county he is from.

Ann McAllister with a birth date of near 1899 married a Campbell and stayed in Ireland.  No idea of where to find her.

Winifred McAllister with an unknown birth date married a Brown (e) and stayed in Ireland.

John McAllister (son) also with an unknown birth date stayed in Ireland.

Closest I could find in 1911 census is this family in Co. Mayo- John and Bridget Mc Allister with children James, Katie (right age for Catherine), Bridget, John, Annie A. Mother Bridget says married 29 years, 9 children (8 living).

I have seen this and I get so puzzled when looking.

I have Eleanor's obituary and I know that Catherine was his sister for certain.  So, what happened to the Eleanor and Mary on this census.  Also there is no mention of a James or Bridget within the obit.

This search is frustrating at times.  I love the puzzle but feeling a bit exasperated.

Thanks for your assistance though. ;D

Did you  notice that they have James marked as 'imbecile' on the census? :o

Do you know how they determined that?  Or what the common definition was at that time?
