James Anderson Begley born 1869 possibly Govan Glasgow info needed.

Started researching family tree on my dads side.  Have got back to my great grandfather James Anderson Begley, born 1869 possibly in Govan Glasgow.  Please can anyone help with anymore info on him.  He moved to Londonderry, where he appears in the 1911 census.

Have you got details of James' parents, or at least father's name if he married in Ireland?  One possibility for his birth showing on IGI www.familysearch.org

Hi Monica thanks for the prompt reply.  Have only recently started to research family history. The only information I have at the moment is from the 1911 Irish census.  My great grand father James Anderson Begley was married to Marget  Jane ***** don't know maiden name.  Not sure if they where married in Ireland or Scotland.  I was told by my father that the name Ferguson was given as a middle name to some of the males in the family.  I have this as a middle name, but do not know where it originated. Will try to trace info on marriage of James to Marget Jane maybe that is the way forward.

The IGI entry I posted earlier is simply an index entry and contains no more info than I posted. The place to look at images of BMDs is on Scotlands People, details of which are included in the link above.

The name Begley is not too common in Scotland so hopefully you should be able to find his details. On the marriage front, I have just checked on Scotlands People and can't see a marriage between a James Begley and a Margaret/Jane so perhaps the marriage took place in Ireland? Looking at James and Margaret's 1911 entry in Londonderry and Margaret and the children all showing as born in Derry City, I would say this is probably where you have to search for the marriage. You could put a new post here on RC on the Ireland board for help in finding the marriage perhaps. Irish marriage certs, like English certs., include father's name which will help in finding James' birth back in Scotland.

Hi there I did some research and found a James A begley married a Margaret jane Ferguson in Londonderry 4th Sept 1894 in the first Derry Presbyterian church. His father's name was Joseph Begley and her dad's name was James Ferguson, she was 19 years old. Witnesses were a William Morrison and a Lizzie Miller. I have attached some screenshots for you also. If you need any more info let me know
