Barclays Bank employees

I believe that my GGAunt was one of the very first female members of the staff of Barclays Bank way back in the early 1900s  I have looked at Barclays web sites to try to find a department that may be able to tell me if this is correct with no result.   Are there any Rootschatters who work for Barclays who may be able to tell me which part of Barclays I should contact for this information?

I work for Barclays (for my sins  ) I will see what I can find out for you.
They have just moved their head office from 54 Lombard Street to Canary Wharf,but have a feeling that personnel records will all be held at Poole in Dorset.

Watch this space- I only work part time so it won't be till next week

Hey Carol, that is really nice of you.   Don't tell my G. Aunt, but I used to work for Lloyds many years ago, and to add insult to injury, I later worked for Nat West.   I hate to think what my G. Aunt would have said.

haha Lindy I started at Lloyds Bank in Oxford Street when I left school,moved on to the Halifax and have worked for Barclays now since 1973 !!!

Good God Carol.  1973?  you must be nearly as old as I am, I started with Lloyds in 1963, and with Nat West in about 1970.   Both times I left to produce offspring, so have not had what you would call a career since.  Have had one or two interesting jobs though.  Worked for a Trade Union, in their finance dept. at one time, was the only employee who refused to pay the political levy,  I didn't pay the Tories over and above the statute taxes, I wasn't about to pay Labour either!   and then I have worked for a Yacht Charter Company in Cornwall.  All good fun.  These days I am retired, though hardly a 'Lady of Leisure'  we bought a house in Mallorca which was in a terrible state with no garden and all our time is spent doing it up!  ah the folly of the old and confused.  :-   Lindy
