Hi Lynda,
not sure if you couldn't access that 1901 info- not much anyway but this is how you can do it:
1) open that reference
2) scroll to the yellow and green boxes
3) Drop down box for County- Wexford
4) Head of household Surname- O' Neill
5) Head of household Given name - James

you don't need to fill all boxes - click submit

Only four options and yours is one of them.

I have sent for certificates- they can send you a photocopy of the entry rather than certificate- it is cheaper and you have the actual entry rather than someone copying (prevents spelling errors etc)
I have done it without some of the info- you have quite a lot though:
names of parents
occupation of father
place
approximate year - I think they search 2 yrs either side.
I would go for it.  Sometimes I have written it as a letter with the info set out like that rather than leave gaps on the form but just see what is best.  ;)

Hi Haywood,
Thank you I was inputting way to much info, I was unable to find my other grand parents so I'll have to give it some time tomorrow. That a good idea to attach a letter with all the info. My family are calling out for food now so I'd better go and feed them. This is so addictive and I spend way too much time on line, for someone who never used a computer very much up to 6 months ago.

Many thanks,
Lynda
I am researching my Great Grandparents James (1851) O'Neill and wife Sarah (1848). He was a carriage maker living in Whitechurch, Co Wexford.

Thomas (1843) Walsh and his wife May(1844) a farmer from Rochestown, Co Kilkenny, Ireland

William Washbrook 1776 family of  Shotteswell, Warwickshire, England.

Good luck with it all - just to say that sadly not all of Wexford has been transcribed for 1901 -
http://www.leitrim-roscommon.com/1901census/

shows you which civil parishes have been done - Whitechurch was only partly done but luckily your family are there.

Hi Everyone, I have sent for photocopies of their birth certs, I hope they are quick any ideas on how long they can take?
Cheers Lynda

PS I was told by the office in Roscommon, that the copies would be ready for mailing after 7 days. That's not bad .

Hi All,

Received the copy of Kate's birth cert., today and found that the surname is written as Neill not O'Neill ? and her mothers maiden name is Power and the 1911 census said she was from Co. Kilkenny . James was a cooper in 1883.

Regards Lynda

Hello Lynda,

that's good news - a bit more information for your research  ;)

The certificate confirms the info already here that Mary found in IGI and the marriage which I refer to in Irish BMDs.
You could now send for that certificate and get a bit more info re James and Sarah Power.

good luck

Hi Heywood, Thank you that's a good idea, I heard second hand today that they may have been first cousins! this brings up the question which of the parents were siblings. It never ends, its like reading a really good mystery. Let you know what turns up next.

Cheers Lynda

Hi Lynda,
You could try the Roman Catholic church, Ballykelly,New Ross, Co. Wexford.

or also the Church of Ireland Church in White church.  Either Churches would hold burial registers and would be able to tell you quickly enough where your ancestors were buried.  For Church of Ireland contact  Rev. L. Rogers, The Rectory College Road, New Ross, Co. Wexford.

Hope this helps.

Forget to mention they may also have your ancestors in their Baptism & Marriage registers too.  Its worth looking into any way.

Kind regards,

Summerhill.
