Birth Certificate Help please
« on: Sunday 18 October 09 10:48 BST (UK) »
Hi everyone

This birth certificate has been puzzling me for a while. It is of an illegitimate girl Annie Alexandra Wheeler. The number on the address is 78 or 701 - strange number formation! What does everyone else think?

78 Hythe Park Road does exist but 701 doesn't.  There is no connection that I can see on the 1901 census or 1911 census with this address and Mary Elizabeth Wheeler - there are a few Mary Wheelers and I'm not sure which one she is.

Also the mother gives her maiden and married name as Wheeler. The father is a Wheeler as well. I think he might be an invention (?) and being a private royal house guards might have been wishful thinking - but I can't prove this. How can I get hold of the military records? I have found a couple of Alexander Wheelers (one possibly her brother and father - if this is her!) but none that can be connected to her in any other way. I have not found a marriage certificate - just in case they later married.

Annie Alexandra was adopted by Alfred Edward Merrett and they appear in the 1911 census.

How can I dig deeper into this and find out who the mother and possibly the father was?

I would say that's probably 78, although I tend to associate that style with censuses that were quite a bit earlier than 1903.
Today I broke my personal record for most consecutive days alive.

Can you repost it with just the section showing the address on it.
It would make that part larger and easier to read.

You are not allowed to post the full cert on Rootschat and the copywrite team will probably remove the whole thing pretty soon anyway !

Regards

Carol
