Do you know who those possible relatives are?  if you do, try just writing to them apologetically, give them what information you have and ask if you could possibly be related.  The worst they can do is not answer.
Godden in East Sussex, mainly Hastings area.
Richards in Lea, Gloucestershire, then London.
Williamson in Leith, Vickers in Nottingham.
Webb in Bildeston and Colchester.
Wesbroom in Kirby le Soken.
Ellington in Harwich.
Park, Palmer, Segar and Peartree in Kersey.

Hi Danny

I have some Marks family members who I believe came from Birr in Ireland.
Perhaps we can compare notes/!

Best regards
Derek

DannyH hasn't been on RootsChat since 2010, hopefully he will return, but on the off chance this is the family he was talking about there is a marriage of a John Marks(born about 1834) in India to a Catherine Connelly in 1863, there are births in Birr in the 1870s to John Marks, Sergeant in the Militia and Catherine Connelly, possibly the same couple.

We can look some more if you think it's the family you are interested in.

Hi Derek,

Welcome to RootsChat :)

I am sorry but checking Danny's settings I can see that he has un-subscribed from all topics and all email notifications on RootsChat - sadly this means that we are not able to now contact him with your reply :'(

Regards

Sarah

Many thanks for letting me know Sinann and Sarah.
Do you know if there is a James Marks that uses this forum?

As for my Marks family, all that you mentioned could be the family I am look for. Everything fits with what I already know but it's difficult to prove. The one document that could help would be the service record of Sergeant Marks. Do you know if this is available?
Also, do you know if he was a Colour Sergeant?

Thanks again
Derek

These are the few Marks Civil BMD from Birr/Parsonstown
http://www.rootschat.com/links/01liv/
You will have to do the Captcha and sign in to see them but the images of the birth certs are there to view the deaths and one marriage are not viewable yet, should be by the end of the year.
The family could have moved to another area of the country so there could be other records on that site.

Can't help you with Military Records perhaps ask on the Armed Forces board. If you do please add a link to this thread so people there can see what was already found.
