MORREN - 1901 census look up please
« on: Wednesday 21 October 09 12:16 BST (UK) »
Can anyone please find a John Hepburn Morren in the 1901 census.  He was born in 1875.
Also Nellie Morren, born c 1882, recorded as Kellie in the 1891 census, William Shand Morren born 1896, Sarah Morren c 1886, James c1890 and Alexander L Morren c 1891.  They are all brother and sister.  The younger ones may be together with Jane their mother.

In 1891 census, apart from John,  they are all living at Mortlach.

Any help with this would be much appreciated.

Betty

Thanks Wozzle for all three messages.

I am pretty sure the first two messages are my Morrens.  I will do a bit more digging to confirm all three.

Thanks for your time on this query.

Hi
Thanks for getting in touch.

I have made some progress on researching the Morren tree since i first started researching but so far have nothing on your grandfather William Shand Morren.  I would love to hear more about him and your side of the family.

My husband is the grandson of John Hugh Morren, brother of William.

My grandfather, William Morren, married Violet Howes and moved to Norwich, England where he is buried. My mother , Marilyn (Morren) Dietrich is still alive and living in  the U.S.  She was one of 3 children of William and Violet. She had a brother Hugh Morren and sister Joyce (Morren) Wharton both of whom are deceased. Hugh Morren live in London and was a syndicated cartoonist . Some of his works can be found in the cartoon museum in London.  Joyce and Marilyn married US Air Force men and moved to the states following the end of the Korean War.
Hugh Morren had a daughter, Nicolette still living in London. Joyce a son named William , and Marilyn 2 daughters, myself Diane and sister Sandy, living in the US.

Thanks for getting back to us.

Do you have a marriage or death certificate for William to prove that we are following the same person.  This will give us his parents names. If you don't have certificates can you give us his parents names.

I had a look on Scotlands People site for his marriage but see he married in England.

The birth on the Family Search site certainly matches what I have for William.

This will be quite exciting if we prove my husband and yourself are related.
All the best from Scotland
