Juckes
« on: Saturday 24 October 09 23:17 BST (UK) »
The Juckes family lived in and around High Ercall in Shropshire.  I have traced the family back to Thomas Juckes who was born around 1699 and was married to Eliza, who was buried 11 October 1740 in High Ercall churchyard.  I would be interested in hearing more about this family and would like to trace them back into the 1600s.

Hi,
I've just joined this forum and immediately found your post from 2009. I am currently doing some research on the Juckes family from High Ercall and was hoping you could help!?
My own research has led me back to Charles Juckes b.1755 and married Mary Randle in 1781. Do you have anything going further back at all? Your help would be gratefully appreciated.

Kind regards,
Andrew

Hello Andrew

Charles Juckes (1755-1803) was the son of Thomas Juckes of Longdon on Tern (1720-1769) and Dorothy nee Dixon (1722-1799).  I think the family farmed at Tern Farm.  Charles's eldest brother was "of Tern".  Charles took on the tenancy of Cotwall Farm just outside High Ercall and the tenancy was passed down from father to son through a number of generations.  Thomas was the son of Thomas (b. abt 1699) and Elizabeth.  I'll send you a private message as well.

Hi Alberbury,
Thanks for the information. Interestingly the Juckes family line that I have been researching does have a connection with Buttington, but only through marriage. George Victor Juckes married Gwenllian Keay in 1927, Gwenllian's brother and sister were born in Buttington. Her mother, Sarah Evans, from Welshpool.
