another little snippit

From the burials of St John the Baptist New Windsor

1844 Jan 29th Thomas Goddard of Peascod Street aged 53

There are no Kidson burials at all (1750 - 1988) however there was one

1807 Jan 23 John Kidsor son of Charles

which I thought was interesting.

Hmm - I've just been looking at the info above,  plus the IGI for Eton Buckinghamshire.  Given that Thomas Goddard was 53 when he died in 1844 he would have been born about 1790/91.  There is a baptism for a Thomas Goddard in 1790 in Eton s/o Thomas & Martha.  This would mean that Thomas was only 17/18 years old when John was conceived (if he was born in 1808).  I very much doubt that Thomas would have been the landlord of the pub at that age,  he may still have been in Eton.  Where did Johns birthplace come from?  could it possibly have been Eton not Windsor?  maybe we are looking in the wrong place.

Thank you soooo much!!!

Is there anywhere else that may hold information? Perhaps he was fostered or adopted?
You are right about the ages though. Thomas does seem a bit young to be John's father......

Thank you again for all you advice!!!  ;D

Hi Belinda..
I am a New Zealand descendent of John & Amelia Kidson.

We believe that John's parents were in India and understand that John's father had married an indian woman and that John was sent to be educated at Eton.

We understand that both parents were killed in an uprising in India. This meant that there was no more money available so John could not continue at Eton.

I have not been able to get any further but perhaps Eton may have some records or military or Police in India.

If you can find any further information would appreciate being kept in the loop.

Good Luck
Raual

I too am a descendant of John and Amelia Kidson in New Zealand. I am really keen to hear any more about the possible Indian connection. I did a search and found a John Kidson buried there in 1826 aged 26 which would be a bit young to be the father.
Raual - which line are you from. I am from their daughter Amelia who married John Ward
Keen to get any more info
Katrine
I have attached a photo of John Kidson

hello Katrina. I am descended from Amelia's elder brother John. The possible India connection came through my grandmother Ruby Coleman (nee Kidson). What I wrote is all that I know about the India connection. I agree that the dates do not seem right for the John Kidson buried in 1826.
Thank you for the photo.
Regards

Hi everyone,
Has anyone had their ancestry dna done through ftDNA or ancestry.com? Perhaps this might be the only way we can solve this mystery!
