Hi Andrea!  Yes, I sure am in Brisbane :)  Are you in Australia too?

I think I'm making some sense of it all slowly.  For some reason I had that Alexander was born in 1833 and not 1827.  This confused me when i kept seeing Thomas b1833.  I can't find any information on a death of Thomas b1833 but it would almost certainly be the case seeing as your ggrandfather was named Thomas in 1840.  I also have a copy of the monumental inscriptions at Blair Athol church which say that Thomas McNab died in infancy and that Alexander McNab died in Brisbane in 1844 ages 57 years - so this fits with the date of 1827.  All those numbers can make your head spin!

I notice that you don't have a Jane listed in your original post - the inscription information i have lists under children a Jane Mcnab died at Chester 30 July 1881, aged 42 years.  Do you have any record or her?

Did you manage to go back further than Robert's father Robert b1857?

A few crumbs of information .......

Jean McNab (of Chester) born Bridge of Fender 12 Jan 1838 (Blair Atholl OPR)

Only others that we can find in the Blair Atholl OPR are:
Alexander at Bridge of Tilt, 13 Aug 1827
Robert at Bridge of Tilt, 22 May 1830
Chirstain at Toldunie, 1 May 1831
Thomas at Bridge of Fender, 14 Sep 1833

All three locations are very close together.  It's probably the Old Bridge of Tilt rather than the 'new' present day location.

Do you need photographs of the two MIs in (new) Blair Atholl churchyard?

Isabel McGlashan was baptised 13 Mar 1796 and born at Aldclune, as were the rest of the family.

You should be looking for the following siblings, in chronological order:
Jean, Patrick, Alexander, Patrick, John, (Isabel), Jean

As you have Isabel's death certificate, this should be fairly easy, and we won't ruin you enjoyment.

You are so lucky. The marriages in Blair Atholl parish are missing from 14th December 1781 until 26th August 1784, but Isabel's mother came from Moulin parish and you will find it there.

Have fun,

Throth (www.borenich.co.uk)

How is the search for ancestors progressing?

At last we had a beautiful spring day while one of our researchers was out doing some field-work, and dropped into Blair Atholl parish church to photograph the McNab stones for you.

There are half a dozen, or so, and are rather large jpegs so please contact the borenich web-site and we'll send them out as a series of attachments.

Hello Throth,
I didnt realize how many McNabs we are related to....We have contact from my second cousin in Merseyside who has uploaded the McNab tree to Ancestry( as have we)...he is a full member which makes life so much easier...I have previously read Borenich website on Sessions, I sent him the link with the comment I hope none of these are ours... ;D
I am also in contact with the other cousins and keeping them updated.
I would be interested in seeing the pictures too. Blair Atholl looks a very beautiful place, a shame I didn't get to visit when I lived UK.
Many thanks for your help
Andrea
