« on: Sunday 08 November 09 18:00 GMT (UK) »
Hi,
I have just had contact with a possible cousin in USA.
English is not his first language, although he tries hard, so I thought you may help.

He is looking for any information regarding his grandfather
James Hepburn b. 1900 Ireland, emmigrated to USA.

James has a cousin - Patrick Joseph Doddy b. 1890 Ballymote
Ireland. I have seen copy of US 1920 census.
Many thanks,
Vicki

1911 census for Ireland is online and free - that's probably the best place to start since you have an idea of his name, age and place.

Note: 1901 census will be added to the site soon
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

Patrick Doddy of Ballymote, Co. Sligo, Ireland and Providence, RI
« Reply #3 on: Monday 08 February 16 12:30 GMT (UK) »
This post is on behalf of a friend, Patrick Doddy of Ardconnell, Ballymote, Co. Sligo, for whom I'm assisting with some research:

"I am trying to trace my grandfather's grand uncle, who emigrated to Providence, Rhode Island in or about 1883-1884. His name was Patrick (Pat) Doddy. His father's name was Francis Doddy and his mother's name was Catherine Doddy. Francis died of 1872.  Patrick also had one sister called Catherine and she married Martin Scanlon in Bunninadden, Co. Sligo in 1856. The Scanlons had a mill in Bunnineadan/Bunninadden. For this reason this particular family of Doddys were referred to  as the 'Mill Doddys.' I believe that Patrick married Bridget Sheriden on the 4th of March 1867 in Ballymote parish known as Emlafad / Emlaghfad and Kilmoragan at that time. Patrick and Bridget lived in Ardconnell, Ballymote, Co Sligo initially and I believe that they had a family. For some reason they emigrated to the USA. The only information I have is that there was a child called Maggie and was of the opinion she was only 2-3 years old when she left for the USA in 1883 or 1884. Recent information revealed a contact, who may have some more information about this family, and his name is JIM MORAN. I am very interested in getting more information about Patrick Doddy and his family who relocated to Providence. I also know that some of his relatives visited Ireland and called to Arconnell in the late 1970s seeking information about their relatives. I look forward to hearing from you, Many thanks, Patrick Doddy."
