Try this link: http://www.genuki.org.uk/cgi-bin/gazplace?GR=SN625728,PLACE=RHOSDIAU,CCC=CGN

If it doesn't work, go to Genuki Gazetteer and look for Llanilar and/or Rhostiau/Rhostie.

Sorry to be stating the obvious, but I can't think that it can be anything but a pub!

Have you looked at old maps on the internet? I've got copies of Flintshire and Denbighshire. No help to you, but they do show up pubs.

Have you got access to the censuses? I looked at Rhostie in 1851 (only 7 pages) and found Cross Inn on page 1. Doesn't help with location. It appears hat 3 families lived there, but writing very unclear, so couldn't see occupatons.

Tecwyn :)

Hi, thanks for the input, very much appreciated. I have tried looking at old maps but cant find anything around 1800. My ancesters, two of them at least were born in Cross inn, next time i find them they are with their parents farming at Fronuchaf,Cilcennin until early 1860s. I know that the parents were married July 10,1807 Llanilar parish church. I have followed up the link that you supplied, Genuki.Lots of info on that site!
again many thanks for your input   Dave

How about Cross Inn, Bethania.   Between Aberayron and Aberystwyth.
