The Irish Govt has digitised many of their Birth Marriage and Death records both in the civil register and some church records:

http://www.irishgenealogy.ie/en/             will get you there (and register on page)

James Butterly (Silk Weaver son of Thomas James) and Margaret Reynolds (dau of John Reynolds b. 1836 and Jane Farrell - Silk Dyer/Drier) quoted by a correspondent earlier are my great grand parents and did live in the Newmarket/Wards Hill/Brabazon Place area of the Liberties of Dublin.

Their children were:

1886  Ellen (married o'Loughlin children went to New York and Canberra)
1888  Mary (married Laurence O'Neill)
1890  James Christopher  born 1890
1892  John (my grandfather)  married widow Jane Courtney
1894  Patrick
1896  Francis
1898  James  (married Rosanna May moved to Lambeth)
1899  Margaret
1902  Michael  (known as Dikey) went to England  with 2 marriages in Hendon N London  (Bull & Fagan)
1904  George (Married Brigid Hannon and stayed in Dublin)  2 children still alive
1907  William

Give a man a record and you feed him for a day.
Teach a man to research, and you feed him for a lifetime.
