James DOBSON - burial in Marlborough
« on: Friday 13 November 09 18:14 GMT (UK) »
I've just done a look-up on the FindMyPast site for a burial in Marlborough for a James Dobson (1821-1885).  He's listed in their burial indexes but there are no details other than year of birth and death.  If he's shown in this index does that mean there's a monumental inscription somewhere?
Wright (West Ham, Stratford, Cripplegate)
Widenstrom (Chicago and Minnesota)
Swain (Cripplegate, St Lukes)
Wolfe (St Giles in the Fields)
Willis (Gt. Leighs; Brentford)
Bryant (Bristol, Glos)
Searle (Kent/Surrey)
Keyworth (Yorkshire)
Biggs (Harrow Weald)
Collins (Harrow Weald and Wiltshire)
Langston (Harrow Weald)

Hi Alison,

Yes I believe as it is a MI that the information was taken from the stone at Malborough Cemetery. In this case it does not appear to provide much information. We would often see Husband of ........ but in this case it appears to be only born 1821. He does not appear to be buried with any other family or the entry would state this.  (possibly just says;- James DOBSON 1821-1885)

Hopefully you can view the stone yourself or have someone do it for you, but it does sound like the inscription will not be helpfull.

Cheers Kris  :)

Thanks Jebber.  This is an interesting site i've not come across before.  My ancestors aren't listed but there are some Dobsons on the war memorial which I'll look into.  Kind regards Alison
