Smart Family in Fife Scotland

I am hoping that someone can help me. Seems I have hit a brick wall.

I am looking for the parents and grandparents of:
William Smart b. 1772 Collessie Fife(Married to Margaret Dingwall b.1776 Collessie Fife)
m. Dec 1796
Son: John Smart b. 1802 Falkland Fife (Married to Barbara Lyon Hood b.1801 Strathmiglo Fife)
m. Jan. 1823
Son: William Smart b Nov. 1802
Son: Robert Smart b. Dec 1799
Daughter: Janet Smart June 1807
Daughter: Helen Smart Feb. 11 1805

I have been successful on a lot of information below William, but not above him.

there is a William Smart (ch)..23 Dec 1772 , Collessie ,Fife.

Parents John Smart & Mothers name listed as Peddrie.
However listed on marriages (IGI) her name is Janet Peaddie. married Oct 1766.

Hi JoeM, my GGG grandfather was William Smart who married Ann Grant on 24/11/1851.  Someone gave me information on Williams family which I have not yet checked so it may or may not be correct, but I will pass it on to you in case it helps your research. If you find out anything else please let me know! 

I have been given Williams parents as John Smart and Barbara Lyon Hood. John was born 14/7/1875 at Collessie and Barbara  5/1/1801 at Strathmiglo. They were married 13/1/1823 at Collessie. There is no record of John's death (? pre 1855), Barbara died in 1873 in Brechin. I have John's parents as John Smart and Helen Simson, married in January 1774 in Fife. They had 3 children; John (above), Barbara b1792 Abdie, Fife and Robert b 1794 Abdie.

Barbara's parents were George Hood b 1770 @Strathmiglo and Catherine Christie b 1775  @Strathmiglo, married 12/1/1795 @ Strathmiglo. They had 2 children; Barbara (above) and Catherine b 23/10/1803 @ Strathmiglo.

As I say take this with a pinch of salt until you can verify its accuracy. Good luck!

William Smart (b1772) was my 5xG Grandfather.  What's your connection?  I have my tree on GR/ancestry but like you have, as yet, not found his parents or grandparents.  I am descended from William's son, Robert (b1799).  Have had to put my research on hold recently but if I do discover anything, will let you know.
