Stalbridge, Brownshall Parish - WILLIAMS
« on: Thursday 19 November 09 07:16 GMT (UK) »
Hi there. I am currently researching a Family, surname WILLIAMS, and am wondering if anyone would be able to lookup, if possible a parish record for a Joseph WILLIAMS born between 1808-1811 in Stalbridge, Brownshall, Dorset.  I have no details on the parents or any siblings. He married in Jersey in 1828.

I putting together a family history report for a client and would appreciate any assistance if possible.

Many thanks.

Hi Jebber,

Thank you very much for that site. Unfortunately, I couldn't locate any Joseph Williams born between 1800-1811 in Stalbridge. I could be he was born there and baptised elsewhere. Are there any towns closeby that they may have been baptised in, instead?  He just may have not been recorded either. Is Brownshall, a town in Stalbridge?

Thanks again for your help.

Kind Regards,

Oystercatcher

Stalbridge is in the Hundred of Brownshall. It is quite close to Somerset, so you may need to look there as a search of the opcdorset site shows no Joseph Williams.

Hi,

There is a Joseph Williams in Stalbridge a few years earlier that could be the same family-baptised 23/9/1739. Father was Robert Williams, and siblings Mary baptised 1745; Elijah baptised 1742; James baptised 1741; William baptised 1736 and Joseph baptised as I said in 1739-all at Stalbridge.
regards.

Hi Paco,

Thanks for your reply. However, the dates are far too early as he was born in Aug 1807 or so. It may be the same line but there were other Williams family baptisms in the early 1800's, but unsure if he was a child of one of them or not.

Oh well. Not to worry. That's probably as far as I can go at present.

Thanks for your help.

Kind Regards,

Jim
