Is anyone researching the family of Mr Nicholson who sailed (unsuccessfully!) to New Zealand in 1878?
He may have managed to get there eventually.

I would be interested to hear from you asI may have info to give to you.

Hi Dawn55,

Thanks for your reply.
I am not researching Mr Nicholson.
I came across a tiny piece of info re him when researching my family. I wanted to pass it on to his ancestors! :)

Where did your James originate from? That will let me know if same person.

Hi Dawn,

The Mr. Nicholson I have was also from Shetland. He "tried " to leave for New Zealand on the 12th of September 1878 on the “Canterbury” from Glasgow.
He may have made it another time but he is obviously not your Mr Nicholson!

Sorry

Hi O

My partner has recently started researching his Nicholson ancestors and has hit a brick wall. I saw your post from 2009 and wondered if there could be a connection. The Nicholson he is looking for had children and died in NZ in 1933 at the age of 73.

Could this be the Nicholson you have info for?
