You're most welcome tho it means another mystery given the mum's name being same on both. It's not 100% foolproof but naming convention might help working out who Catherine Milloy was - I'd say mum's mum as eldest daughter was usually named after mum's mum.

There are also some gaps between children which suggests some maybe died as wee ones - worth looking into but also to note some people did reuse names if a baby died to keep the family names going - ghoulish I know. Have quite a few in my family did it.

I would agree. They are shown in the census (1851 i think) staying with Catherine and Peal(neil) boyle. It is also more likely the 1st parent to die would have the correct names on. Neils cert info was submitted by the daughter relying on memories of conversations rather than knowledge of someone they met.
With regard to recycled names, I know in the Brown family my 3x Grandfather James Brown named 2 or 3 of his children James. Think they all passed away at a very young age :-(

Hi,
I believe Neil Sweeney and Catherine Boyle were my great, great maternal grandparents. I have a copy of registration of death of their daughter Catherine Blue, wife of James Blue. She died in Greenock in 1911, age 57.

Yes, daughter Catherine (appx 1854-1911) is the oldest dau (at least that I have noted) of Neil Sweeney and Catherine Boyle.

Catherine Sweeney married James Blue, and their daughter Agnes married Charles Murray. Agnes and Charles were my grandparents. Is it the same family?

Monty, I have James Blue's death record and James and Catherines Marriage one too.
Their daughter Barbara Sweeney Blue was my Great Grandmother.
