Thank you for message Glyn.  Very much appreciated.

When you mention 'John' in the last three paragraphs, I take it you mean Rhys John Davies?  I understand he would have been known as 'Rhys' to his family and certainly to his brother Thomas 'Cennech' Davies.

Rhys John Davies was married to Margaret (Griffiths) and had three sons and thus stated in the death notices at the time of his death in 1954:-

"He is survived by three sons, Dr. Emrys Davies, Education Officer to the National Council for Health Education; Mr. Delwyn G. Davies, engineer and manager to the Mid-Cheshire Water Board, and Mr. Rhys Alvor Davies, secretary and director of Messrs. Rootes (Australia) Ltd., Melbourne."

Narberth is certainly new information to me and I trust you mean that's where Daniel Davies was from, as Rhys was born and brought up in Llangennech, Carms.

I posted that before finishing!!

I didn't know either about Nottinghamshire being the home of one of Rhys' sons and that's another avenue to explore.

If Rhys was present at Daniel Davies' funeral he wasn't mentioned in the obituary found.  That doesn't mean he wasn't there though.

Many thanks again for your information Glyn.

Kind regards,

Aled

Hello All,

I've just come across your postings about Rhys John Davies. My mother's cousin is the daughter of Dr Emrys Davies. I would be interested in finding out more about the family and any information you could share would be much appreciated.

Kind regards,
Claire

Hello Claire,

My husband, so rumour has it is related to Rhys John Davies, I am trying to find the connection.

Do you have a family tree on this side of your family?

Chloe

Hello Chloe,

I do have a family tree of sorts! The Davies side is pretty sparse but you're welcome to have what information I've gathered. Most of my detail is on the Shorrock side - Beatrice Shorrock (my Gt Aunt) was Emrys's wife.

Kind regards,
Claire

Hi Claire,

I've got loads of information about Rhys John Davies, where he was born, grew up, worked and died etc.  I know more about his older brother though, Thomas 'Cennech' Davies, plus I've got information regarding their parents.  Indeed I was at their graveside just last Friday.

I know that Dr. Emrys Davies had two brothers.  Delwyn Griffiths Davies and Rhys Alvor Davies.  I also know that Dr. Emrys was a Dr. W. Emrys Davies and therefore  would you know what the 'W' stood for?  It could be taken for granted that it's William, but that can't be certain.

Thanks,

Aled

Hello Aled,

I have found quite a bit out from searching the internet. I only know that Thomas was a preacher.

The "W" does stand for William. Please let me know if you think I can give you any further details.

Kind regards,
Claire

Hi Claire,

Just taken this from my tree.

Rees Davies b 1877 married Maragret Ann Grifiiths and you already know about their 3 children.

Rees Davies b 1845 d 1914 married Ann Griffiths she died and he remarried Rebecca Harries b 1849.  So far I have found 5 children for Rees and Ann but think they had more.  Rees b 1877, Thomas b1876, William b1875, Martha b 1867, and Jane b1871.
Rees and Rebecca had 2 children David and Mary
Rees b 1845 - father was Thomas Davies b 1820 mother b.1821.

Hope this is of some help.

Chloe
