Dear Jan

Thank you for responding and expertise of the census records.

Have found that Matilda is Matilda Blanche Blechynden and
that Matilda Blanche , Harrison's sister , was a composer. One of her music pieces  is called "The Christmas Polka." "Matlda Blanche Blechynden (Miss) was a Professor and teacher of Music , 56 St George St , Canterbury Kent. From Post Office Directory for Ess, Herts, Kent 1855, and from the History Gazet'/Directy Kent 1847 under Canterbury Traders Academies.  Blechynden Matilda B Cathedral yd Also 1858 Melville & Co Directory  St Margaret's St Canterbury."

Matilda Boys was she related to Sarah does it state?
So Sarah is widowed 1851 so John her husband any records of his death?
Can anyone assist with her parents please?

Cheers

Hi

Sorry I missed that,  Matilda Boys is down as Sarah's niece.

There is a tree on Ancestry that has this family. They have John's dates as born 1764 Kent and death 1835 Aldington Kent. You would have to see if you can verify this with Parish records. If it's the same family his parents are given as Edward Blechynden and Anne Vincent. Nothing for her parents I'm afraid.

BLECHYNDEN  Matilda Blanch
Baptised 3rd Oct 1805 All Saints, Canterbury
Parents - John & Sarah
That's the only Baptism for this surname in Canterbury.
There are no Burials, & just two other Marriages apart from John to Sarah HARRISON.

I've got Aldington PRs.
There are BLECHYDEN families there, but no baptism for a John mid to late 1700s (only one in 1694) or a burial.
This baptism might be of interest, in Aldington:
Emily Grace dau of John & Sarah BLECHYNDEN
9th Nov 1806.

Edward & Ann(e) had four children baptised, between 1760-1764 (1764 was a daughter, Mary)

Matilda Boys is with her Mother in 1841;

1841 Census
Hale House,
Sellinge, Kent
HO107/479/10/Sellinge

Emily BOYS, 30
Helen Boys, 2
MATILDA, 1

1851 with parents Edward, 42 and Emily 42 + siblings.
HO107/1630/414/22

Edward is born 1808 Mersham to William and Elizabeth on IGI.
I tried to connect with not much luck to see if Matilda was a grand neice of Sarah. Hopefully that could have led back to a sibling for Sarah Harrison.

Trish :)

There is definitely some connection as in 1881 Matilda ANTHONESS is visiting Matilda B Blechendyn.
RG11/958/94/16

Marriage;
Matilda BOYS
William ANTHONESS
4th qrt 1871, Thanet, 2a 1520

Hubby William is a Prof of Music

And in 1861 whilst Matilda BOYS is housekeeper to Sarah Matilda Blechynden is with Emily Boys as a visitor.
