Annuities Consols
« on: Thursday 03 December 09 00:01 GMT (UK) »
I understand that the above were Government securities . Can anyone please tell me if they were ever  given as a pension of some discription from any of the armed  services please.

Many thanks

Patrish  :)

Hi Patrish

They still exist - http://www.bondscape.net/feed.html

They were never given in lieu of a pension. Army pensioners may have bought them if they had received a lump sum.

Last time I looked interest rates were about 15% so 'gilts' were a lot cheaper!
