William Atkinson / Alice Revely

Does anyone know when and where the above were married - probably around 1859? William was born in 1840 in Walker, Newcastle so they may have married there. Alice was born in South Shields in 1838 to they may have married there. Can anyone help?

Revely is a relatively unusual name so it should not cost too much to search on 1837online for the marriage.  I assume you have looked on FREEBMD?  I cannot find a Revely family in the 1851 census index for South Shields, nor a William Atkinson of the right age in Walker in 1851

The clue to their place of marriage lies in birthplace of their first child ( well at least the oldest one of those listed on Census 1881)

Their marriage was registered in the Hartlepool District Register Office during the year of 1860.

Are you familiar with the usual web sites to gather this info ?

Thank you for info. Yes I know the usual sites Ancestry, Durham Registry, etc. but I just couldn't find that particular marriage for some reason. I tried different spellings of Revely but nothing came up. Many thanks

There is a "geoghraphic" drawback with some County Durham sites... some do NOT have records for bits of "old" County Durham, that today lie outside the borders of the "modern" downsized Co Durham

e.g. South Tyneside( Gateshead, Jarrow, South Shields etc) Sunderland,  and areas at the south end of old county...Hartlepool, Stockton, Darlington..

But fortunately >www.middlesbrough-indexes.co.uk< , a site to enable the online purchase of BMD certificates, allows free searches. And this is where I found your marriage.
