If there is any other information you could give about Emma's father James, i.e. occupation? was he alive when Emma married? and where he may have been living?  this may help try in trying to find the right family for you.  :)

Hi Angie,

Emma Blake was married on 3 jan 1861 in Aldershot age full spinster father James Blake and he was deceased at that time, no occupation given.  On emma future census (married name Blake aswell) she was born in staines and also on one census farnham.  A witness on her marriage cert. there was a Hannah Blake.  Her age differs on future census, so not sure when she was born as yet.

thanks Sue.

Sorry Sue, still no luck finding James  :( I have tried various spellings of Blake/Blacke/Black etc.  There are a lot James Blake's in 1851 but I cannot tie him in with a daughter Emma. Sorry not much progress I'm afraid.

Regards

Angie

Hello Sue,

The only thing I could suggest now, unless someone else manages to find Emma through the census, is to post on the respective boards for any details of her baptism in 1833, someone may have access to the Parish Registers and will offer a look-up.

Good luck with your research.
