Jane Berry's Ancestors
« on: Friday 11 December 09 18:21 GMT (UK) »
I am trying to find further information regarding the family and ancestors of Jane (Jean) Berry. She was born abt 1801, married and had at least 6 children.  I believe she died between 1841 and 1851. Details I have are:

-She married John Stevenson, who was born in Bannockburn abt 1791. John was still alive in 1851.

-Jane's and John's children I have on record (so far) were all born in St. Ninians Parish, Stirlingshire:
     -William born abt 1825
     -David born abt 1827
     -Robert born abt 1829
     -Agnes born abt 1832
     -Janet born abt 1835
     -Peter born abt 1837

I would appreciate learning who Jane's ancestors were; her birth and marriage dates; more information on the children e.g. actual birth dates; are there more children?: dates of death; anything on her husband John, etc

Cheers, sjme

Hi Diddy, thank you for responding so quickly. I did have that particular marriage date, but was hoping to tie the children I have on record to that marriage and to John from Bannockburn for certain. I got the information I listed on John and Jean Stevenson (not Jane Berry) and the six children from the St. Ninian's 1841 and 1851 Census. However, for many reasons I won't list here, I believe they are the John Stevenson and Jane Berry I am searching for. If I find out about Jane's ancestors and confirm her birth date (the 1841 Census said she was 40 in 1841), I will be able to confirm she is the correct ancestor, I hope.

Cheers, sjme

This one is my 3xg/grandmother.  ;D
Baptised as Helen commonly known as Jean. She was born in Bo'ness in 1802. But she also had a sister Janet, who died in 1834.
So maybe that's another couple of Jean, Jane, Janet's you can cross off your list

Thanks Ladybird, I'll just keep on hunting. Berry is not too common a name, so eventually I'll find Jane Berry's parents.

Cheers, sjme

I'm not finding any matches for your Stevenson children on SP? Can I ask where you got the names?

It might pay to spread your search out a bit too.
My lot ended up in Falkirk but started off in West Lothan (Carriden and Bo'ness in particular)
I know it makes it harder, sorry  :-[
Also the variations on the Berry name can be confusing, even amongst the same family's baptisms. It's a long hard slog on Scotlandspeople and a lot of credits.... in my case still a work in progress, this thread has made me struggle on a little bit further
Let me know if you end up with anyone from those areas, we may be related  8)
