GLEESON & TIERNEY
« on: Saturday 12 December 09 08:17 GMT (UK) »
I'm looking for a marriage between Michael Gleeson (Clerk - Manager of Estates) & Ann(e) Tierney   I do have a date 29 May 1849, but no record of where I found it :( (or was given it).   I wonder if someone could confirm this?

One of their children (Mary Gleeson) was born in Tipperary c. 1832, another (Kathleen Francis) 1842 in Ennis, County Clare.  A third simply says born in Ireland (Ann, 1839)

I'm wondering also, if there were any other children of the marriage, as I was told there were sons.

Michael Gleeson (I believe) died in Ireland (possibly of cholera, and possibly a protestant)

Are you sure that 1849 could be the marriage date? (daughter Mary born 1832, daughter Ann born 1839, daughter Kathleen born 1842)
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

I apologise - it must have been a mistake, as there was nothing to verify that date.    It would have been prior to 1832, but then I dont know if any other children were born ?

As the previous messages were sent in 2009, am wondering if anyone can help now?

Without a date or location for the marriage it's going to be difficult to search, and the location for two of the births is probably not specific enough..

RC parish records for the parish of Ennis (Drumcliff) are now available online but I dont see any likely matches for Kathleen's baptism - see : http://www.ennisparish.com/genealogy/

The RC baptism records for this parish go back 1841, marriages to 1837.

Church of Ireland records for the parish which covers Ennis - also named Drumcliff, go back to the 1740s, but I dont think these are online anywhere at the moment

I am trying to find relatives in Ireland of brothers Thomas, Michael and Martin Gleeson/Gleason who emigrated to Kansas City, Mo., about 1890. They all were born in the 1870s, sons of John Gleeson and Mary Ellen Hurley. Another brother possibly was Patrick Gleeson, who also came to Kansas City. His father also is listed as John Gleeson, from Maurices Mills, Dysert, Clare. I would appreciate any help.

... They all were born in the 1870s ...

A wee bit earlier for Thomas and Patrick:

Edited to add: Griffith's Valuation has 13 County Clare occupiers called John Gleeson, one of them leasing a house in the village of Crusheen (townland of Crusheen), the print date was 1855:
