Hi Annie

Hope this is the couple your looking for!

First an apology. I went in  this morning and looked at the marriage certificate and wrote down everything except the date!!!!! If it is your man, I'll go back and look it up.

Frederick Bews, 22, bachelor,  a carpenter, living at 22 Hilgrove Lane, St Helier. Born St Helier. Father Thomas Bews, a lawyer.

Susanne Rachel Groizard, 23, spinster, also, living at 22 Hilgrove Lane, St Helier. Born St Helier. Father Louis Groizard, a painter.

Witnesses were Louis Groizard and Matilda Hamilton.

I am new to the site, and have just been reading about John Crighton who married Annie Patterson 1892- (should be Paterson) she was my GG grandmother, her first husband George died at sea.  John Crighton was a Lloyds Surveyor and lived and worked in Bordeaux and Dunkirk, France.  I have several letters written by him and Annie to family members in Bedford Road, Bootle.  I am very interested if anyone else has more information that they could post. thanks

Hi HPaterson - and welcome!  :)

I can't find the surnames you refer to on this thread and wonder if you have posted in the right place?

Where did you read about them?

Hoping to help!

Kind regards, Arranroots  :)

Hi, thanks for the reply.  I clicked on to "liverpool annie" s  page as there was a heading "Re: No trace of my Crighton ancestors after 1865"  and found all the comments very interesting.  As I have lots of letters, photos, postcards etc., relating to John Crighton from Bedford Road, Liverpool = thats what brought me to this site.  Its fascinating reading all the items that are on this web page.
regards  :)

Hello again

Sadly, though Liverpool Annie was one of our most prolific and best-loved contributors, she hasn't been online for some years.

We would love it if she were to return and post - here's hoping! If not, I guess there is a chance that some other relative will discover your post, in the same way as you discovered hers.

Kind regards, Arranroots  ;)
