Headley/Hedley USA --DNA Studies
« on: Tuesday 15 December 09 03:13 GMT (UK) »
Greetings from the USA,
I'm not sure about this message as I'm new to this board, but here goes.  I descend from a John Headley who came to Virginia around 1670.  I have been unable to identify his place of origin in the UK.  However, I have had my DNA (Y-chromosome) tested and I turn out to belong to the R1a1 haplogroup which suggests Viking ancestry.  If this is so, then I suspect that my ancestors came from the Northumberland/Durham area where Scandinavian influence was strong.  I'm wondering if any male Hedleys/Headleys from this area have had DNA tests conducted.  It would be wonderful to match my DNA to this area; it would give me an area in which to concentrate my search.

Happy Christmas to all.
