Thanks for that.

Was anything mentioned about
(a) checking after the 1901 goes on line or
(b) anything about amendments to the 1911 as a  result of user feedback?

She mentioned that the present problem with checking is the shedding of staff at the NAI. This isn't likely to get any better any time soon. So they take the view that if they waited to release the records in 'perfect' state, it would never be launched. A similar view prevailed with the 1911 but it seems that release had had at least some level of inspection prior to launch. This time there won't be any.

Amendments after launch, as with the 1911, will be ongoing but dictated by staff resources.

Reading between the lines (and very much my interpretation of what she said), all staff resources are currently needed to get the 1901 online before June. After that, those slim resources will deal with amendments and omissions for both 1901 and 1911.

Thanks for the latest update. The lack of some level of checking is worrying (especially as 1901 was supposed to be more difficult to read than 1911). With lots of multiple searches using first name/age or townland, etc. it's usually possible to find most people but I know that quite a few places are wrong in 1911 and there's no way to report errors on the form at present.

Ditto MaggieTag, June isn't that far away, the lack of checking does seem a little worrying, but if you can search with wild cards then hopefully that will aid finding the right family :)

I think 1901 is the last chance I have at finding my Irish Roots, so I hope I will be able to find who I am looking for !

It is also a shame about the shedding of staff at NAI.

Does anybody know if RIC records will be going online any time soon ?

The National Archives in the UK has the records out for licensing:

Thanks for the update Wicklow Rose, like everyone else
I've been checking the site regularly and wondering
if the project would be cut altogether. At least it will
hopefully go ahead as planned in June.
