BMD Certificates - share the info!

It may have already been mentioned, but I think it worth while doing so again - there is a potentially terrific site: www.BMDShare.com to which we are all invited to enter information from the birth, marriage and death certificates in our collections so that the details can be shared with everyone else. The site is easy to use, both for entering information and for searching, and could be an excellent database but it relies on people sharing the information they have.  There is no cost involved either in entering details or for searching the database.

Have done this, its a great site.

But would also recommend using the Postem facility on FreeBMD in a similar way.

This site has been (BMDshare) has been threatening to charge subs for about 3 years now, and to date have not done so.

I think that the more people who enter certs. & utilise the site the less likely subs will be made.

I have submitted some BMD info to this site. Are they now charging subs as I couldn't seem to find any mention when I looked the other day, unless I need glasses.

Just seen this - what a great idea for a site. I'll be puting my certs on there
Its still free until December 2012 at least.
Even if they do charge its only going to be £1 a year

As Plummiegirl says, you can also use freebmd in the same way and it's free so its accesible to everyone

The huge advantage of postems on freebmd is that when you first identify the certificate on there, the postem is immediately visible and further searches and possibly a certificate purchase are avoided.
